Lilly Johnsen

Lilly takes an interdisciplinary approach to my work, bridging technical insights with human connection to create understanding and meaningful action. With a strong foundation in environmental research, She has explored topics such as food insecurity in the context of climate change and used GIS to explore opportunities for community development. Beyond academic research, her hands-on experience in the field—collecting data and engaging directly with communities—has deepened her ability to translate complex issues into accessible and impactful insights. This blend of technical and field experience enables her to align initiatives with their core mission while considering diverse perspectives and audiences.
Lilly’s notable experiences include:
Conducted technical field research focused on controlling and mitigating water chestnuts, an aquatic invasive species, at the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District. Utilized a handheld GPS unit to collect data and create GIS maps illustrating the spread and containment efforts, and created reports illustrating progress and show how grant dollars were being spent and effectiveness of the program.
Supported marketing and recruitment efforts to influence students to become Amazon Prime members. Responsible for planning and coordinating events to understand student interests and delivering local and relevant engagement.
Lilly graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University with a degree in Environment, Sustainability, and Policy, Geography, and a minor in English and Textual Studies. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active, practicing yoga, spending time outdoors, and being with friends and family.
