Senior Advisor, Equity & Environmental Justice

Javier Lopez brings 20 years of expertise in academia, government, nonprofit and philanthropic sectors to his work with ASC. He has cultivated rapport with grassroots to grasstops individuals to optimize project goals and output, resolving complex problems and delivering innovative improvement strategies. Known for collaborative leadership, innovative problem-solving, and a commitment to creating lasting, positive impact in organizations and communities, Javier has contributed management, community outreach, and engagement strategy for a variety of projects with ASC.

Javier’s notable experiences include: 

  • Contributing management, community outreach, and engagement strategy for the Community Partners Program of the Reimagine the Cross Bronx Expressway Study

  • Developing courses for and teaching in Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation

  • Pioneering environmental justice and urban farming projects with the Red Hook Initiative, enhancing community resilience

  • Working with the U.S. Department of Energy to develop and implement diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives for the Special Olympics of New York and lead board development and talent acquisition for two NYC-based Community Land Trust organizations

Javier holds a M.P.A. from Baruch College as a National Urban Fellow and a B.S. from the State University of New York at Albany.
