Nora's Note

Voicing Our Gratitude. With over 61 million people of Hispanic descent living in the United States today, making sure we hear representative voices is a top priority in public engagement. As we head into the second half of Hispanic Heritage Month, some of the ways we're appreciating the contributions Latinos have made in the United States include enjoying Hispanic art and theater, supporting Latino-owned businesses and visiting some of the Hispanic restaurants in my neighborhood, like La Diagonal. Through October 15, keep an eye out for events in your community to join the celebration.

Transportation

New York Law Mandates Zero-emission Vehicles. New York State lawmakers recently passed a bill that sets ambitious targets to reduce emissions in the transportation sector. Under the new law, all new passenger vehicles sold within the state must be zero-emission by 2035, while 2045 is the target date for new medium-duty and heavy-duty vehicles. The bill is intended to support the State’s goal of achieving a net-zero carbon economy by 2050. Read on for more information as to how vehicle manufacturers will meet these emissions goals.
