Nora's Note
The power of small - and diverse - business in New York. ASC was honored to accept the Diversity Champion of Excellence award this week at the New York Power Authority’s Supplier Diversity Expo. ASC’s work with NYPA over more than a decade has fostered partnerships and collaborations with other women-owned businesses, minority-owned businesses, disadvantaged business enterprises and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses across the state. A targeted digital strategy and creative that put people first in NYPA’s Smart Street Lighting campaign earned a 2022 Marcom Platinum Award, one of the most respected creative competitions in the world and proved the power of digital communications to reach and engage with the public post-pandemic. As we celebrate Women’s History Month this March, we're grateful for work that allows us to help advance workforce development, job growth, business opportunity and a cleaner, better environment for New Yorkers and gratified to be recognized for our contribution.

Energy/Environment
US Battery Installations Soared in 2022, Reshaping Power Grids. The United States nearly doubled its battery capacity in 2022 from 4.7 GW to 8.7 GW. Battery capacity is critical for the transition to renewable energies like wind and solar. Unlike fossil fuels, these energy sources cannot be siphoned on-demand, so energy storage allows the US energy supply to fluctuate with consumer needs. Plans are in place to increase US battery capacity to 30 GW by 2025. Read more about how the US achieved such rapid growth in battery capacity. (Source: Scientific American)
