Celebrating Global Wind Day, right here in New York. This week marked a significant milestone for clean energy in New York as ASC client Equinor Renewables broke ground on construction at the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal. Joined by Congressman Dan Goldman, Mayor Eric Adams, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, UPROSE, and NYSERDA President Doreen Harris, the event kicked off transformation of the SBMT site into a key staging and operations hub for Empire Wind 1. The offshore wind farm will bring clean power to over 500,000 New York homes, creating union jobs and building sustainable local investments along the way. As we approach Global Wind Day this Saturday, ASC is proud to contribute to this key public engagement effort in clean energy, helping pick up the speed for a just transition for people and planet.

New York Governor delays congestion pricing. Less than a month before its commencement, MTA’S congestion pricing program was indefinitely halted by Governor Kathy Hochul. With the goal of reducing congestion and improving air quality, this program was expected to generate $1 billion a year which would be used to finance multiple subway and transit upgrades. The decision will create a major funding gap in MTA’s capital plan timeline. Read more about how the delay will affect transit planning and funding. (Source: Transport Topics)
